Bret McKenzie is a New Zealand musician and comedian who gained fame as one half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords alongside Jemaine Clement. Active since 1998, he has contributed significantly to film and television as a songwriter and music supervisor, notably for The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014), the latter earning him an Academy Award for Best Original Song. McKenzie also acted in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, where he portrayed the elf Figwit and later Lindir. His debut album, Songs Without Jokes, was released in 2022.
