Brent Spiner is an American actor who portrayed the android Lieutenant Commander Data in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and its subsequent films. He gained recognition for his role as Dr. Brackish Okun in Independence Day (1996), which earned him a Saturn Award nomination. Spiner also appeared in The Aviator (2004) and reprised his role in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). In addition to his film work, he has a background in theatre and music. His performance as Data in Star Trek: First Contact (1996) won him a Saturn Award.
