Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor and film director who received a Primetime Emmy Award for his role as Winston Churchill in the television film Into the Storm. His notable performances include Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter series (2005–2010), as well as significant roles in Braveheart (1995), Gangs of New York (2002), and Troy (2004). Gleeson has also starred in leading roles in In Bruges (2008), The Guard (2011), and The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), the latter earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He has won three IFTA Awards and two BIFA Awards.
