Billy Bob Thornton is an American actor, screenwriter, director, and musician who won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Sling Blade (1996). He gained early recognition as a cast member on the CBS sitcom Hearts Afire and appeared in films such as On Deadly Ground and Tombstone in the early 1990s. Following the success of Sling Blade, he starred in major films including Armageddon (1998), Bad Santa (2003), and Puss in Boots (2011). Thornton also pursued a career as a singer-songwriter, releasing three albums and performing with a blues rock band. He played a significant role in The Gray Man (2022).
