Bernie Mac was an American actor and comedian who gained fame as a member of The Original Kings of Comedy alongside Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and D. L. Hughley. He starred in the television series The Bernie Mac Show from 2001 to 2006, which earned him two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. His film career included notable performances in Ocean's Eleven (2001) as Frank Catton, Mr. 3000 (2003), and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008). Mac's other works featured roles in Booty Call, Friday, and Bad Santa. He was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, which was reported to be in remission in 2005, but he passed away due to pneumonia complications in 2008.
