Benjamin Schiff Platt is an American actor and singer who originated the title role in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen (2015–2017). He began his career in musical theatre, performing in productions such as The Sound of Music (2006) and The Book of Mormon (2012–2015). Platt gained significant recognition for his performance in Dear Evan Hansen, earning a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, a Daytime Emmy, and a Grammy Award. He reprised his role in the film adaptation released in 2021 and appeared in the Pitch Perfect series (2012–2017). In addition to acting, Platt has pursued a music career, releasing his debut album Sing to Me Instead in 2019. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the Netflix series The Politician.
