Benjamin McKenzie Schenkkan is an American actor who made his film debut in the Academy Award-nominated Junebug (2005). He gained prominence for his leading roles as Ryan Atwood in The O.C. (2003–2007), Ben Sherman in Southland (2009–2013), and James Gordon in Gotham (2014–2019). His film credits include 88 Minutes (2007), Goodbye World (2013), Some Kind of Beautiful (2014), and Line of Duty (2019). McKenzie graduated with a degree in Economics and International Relations from the University of Virginia before pursuing acting in New York. He has received several awards for his work on The O.C., where he portrayed Ryan Atwood.
