Begum Akhtar is an Indian singer who gained prominence for her emotive ghazal performances. She began her film career in 1933 and appeared in Roti (1942), which marked her significant success in cinema. Trained under Ustad Ada Muhammad Khan and later Ustad Wahid Khan, she excelled in light classical music, particularly the ghazal, thumri, and dadra styles.
