Barry McEvoy is an Irish actor and writer who gained prominence for writing and starring in An Everlasting Piece (2000), directed by Barry Levinson. His notable screen debut was in the role of a gangster in Gloria (1999), following a decade of performing in Off Broadway productions in New York City. McEvoy's filmography includes appearances in Gettysburg (1993), Veronica Guerin (2003), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006), and Five Minutes of Heaven (2009). He drew inspiration for An Everlasting Piece from his father's experiences selling toupées in Belfast during a tumultuous period. Before entering the film industry, he was the lead singer of the punk band Phlegm in the 1980s.
