Barry Dennen was an American actor, singer, and writer who portrayed Pontius Pilate in the Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar (1971) and its film adaptation (1973). He starred as the master of ceremonies in the London version of Cabaret in 1968 and played Mendel in Fiddler on the Roof (1971). Dennen voiced the character Chamberlain SkekSil in The Dark Crystal and appeared in various animated series, including Batman: The Animated Series and Avatar: The Last Airbender. His film credits include The Shining (1980) and Titanic, along with roles in several television shows. He authored the autobiographical book My Life With Barbra: A Love Story (1997).
