Barbet Schroeder is an Iranian-born Swiss film director and producer who began his career in the 1960s with the French New Wave. He produced notable films such as The Bakery Girl of Monceau (1962) and Celine and Julie Go Boating (1974) before transitioning to directing. His directorial works include More (1969), Barfly (1987), which received a Palme d'Or nomination, and the documentary Koko: A Talking Gorilla (1978). His Hollywood films include Single White Female (1992) and Desperate Measures (1998). Schroeder received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director for Reversal of Fortune (1990).
