Dame Barbara Windsor was an English actress who made her film debut in The Belles of St Trinian's (1954). She gained prominence through her roles in the Carry On films and portrayed Peggy Mitchell in the long-running BBC One soap opera EastEnders. Windsor's career began on stage in 1950, and she continued to perform in various productions throughout her life. Her later work included a role in Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016). Windsor was honored with the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
