Barbara Steele is an English actress and producer who played the dual role of Asa and Katia Vajda in the influential horror film Black Sunday (1960). She gained prominence in the 1960s for her performances in Italian gothic horror, featuring in notable films such as The Pit and the Pendulum (1961), The Horrible Dr. Hichcock (1962), The Long Hair of Death (1964), and Castle of Blood (1964). Steele also had roles in Federico Fellini's 8½ (1963) and David Cronenberg's Shivers (1975), and appeared in Joe Dante's Piranha (1978). She received a Primetime Emmy Award for producing the miniseries War and Remembrance (1988–89).
