Bappi Lahiri is an Indian singer and composer who popularised synthesized disco music in Indian cinema. He achieved significant success in Bengali films with hits like Amar Sangee and Aamar Tumi. His work in Bollywood during the 1980s and 1990s includes notable soundtracks for films such as Disco Dancer (1982), Namak Halaal (1982), and Sharaabi (1984). Lahiri also ventured into politics, joining the BJP in 2014 and contesting in the Indian general election. He composed music for the film Main Aurr Mrs Khanna (2009).
