Ato Essandoh is an American actor who starred in Dark Phoenix (2019). He graduated from New Rochelle High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Cornell University. Essandoh is a playwright, with his work Black Thang included in the anthology Plays and Playwrights 2003. He studied acting at the Acting Studio in New York City and is a co-founder of The Defiant Ones writing and performance group. Essandoh's heritage traces back to Ghana, West Africa. He was also a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Cornell University.
