Aryana Engineer is a Canadian actress who played Maxine Coleman in the psychological thriller Orphan (2009). She is of Iranian-Scottish descent and is hard of hearing, which informed her portrayal of a deaf character in the film. In addition to her role in Orphan, she appeared as Becky in Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) and featured as Belinda in the short film Dreaming of Peggy Lee (2015). Aryana's journey into acting began when she was discovered by a neighbor while using sign language with her deaf mother. She actively advocates for awareness of hearing impairments and promotes inclusion in the film industry.
