Armand Assante is an American actor who portrayed mobster John Gotti in the 1996 HBO film Gotti. He gained recognition for his performances in When Nietzsche Wept and I, the Jury, where he played Nietzsche and Mike Hammer, respectively. Assante appeared in American Gangster (2007). In 1997, he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his role in Gotti.
