Anurag Kashyap is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor who made his directorial debut with Paanch, a film that faced censorship issues and did not receive a theatrical release. He gained significant recognition for his work on Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 (2012) and has directed several notable films including Dev.D (2009), Gulaal (2009), and AK vs AK (2020). Kashyap received the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Government of France in 2013. He is also involved in social work as a board member of the NGO Aangan, which focuses on protecting vulnerable children in India. Kashyap co-founded Phantom Films and runs Anurag Kashyap Films.
