Anthony Minghella is an English film director who won the Academy Award for Best Director for The English Patient (1996). His work earned the film the BAFTA Award for Best Film and the Golden Globe Award for Best Director. Minghella also directed The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) and was involved in Atonement (2007). He served as Chairman of the Board of Governors at the British Film Institute from 2003 to 2007.
