Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor who won two Academy Awards, including one for his role as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). He gained prominence in film with his portrayal of Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter (1968) and has since starred in a variety of notable films such as The Elephant Man (1980), Meet Joe Black (1998), and The Father (2020), for which he became the oldest winner of the Best Actor Oscar. In addition to his film career, Hopkins has received accolades for his television performances, including a British Academy Television Award for War and Peace (1973). His extensive body of work includes roles in Thor (2011) and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017).
