Ann Miller was an American dancer, singer, and actress who became a showgirl at the age of 13. She gained initial fame as a dancer at the Black Cat Club in San Francisco, which led to a contract with RKO Pictures in 1936. Miller starred in numerous musical films during the 1940s and 1950s, including notable works such as Easter Parade (1948), On the Town (1949), and Kiss Me Kate (1953). Renowned for her exceptional speed in tap dancing, she was a prominent figure in the classical Hollywood musical scene. Miller's career extended beyond film, with significant performances on Broadway, including Mame in 1969 and Sugar Babies in 1979. She received the Sarah Siddons Award in 1983 for her work in Chicago theatre.
