Ann Burgess is an American researcher and psychiatric clinical nurse specialist who authored A Killer by Design: Murderers, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher the Criminal Mind (2021). Her work primarily addresses the issues faced by victims of trauma and abuse. Burgess has held academic positions as a professor at the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College and as Professor Emerita at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
