Andy Serkis is an English actor and filmmaker known for his pioneering work in motion capture, particularly for portraying Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003) and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes reboot series (2011–2017). His filmography includes significant roles in Black Panther (2018), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018), which he also directed. Serkis has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema in 2020 and a Daytime Emmy Award for The Letter for the King (2020). He also played Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman (2022).
