Andy Devine was an American character actor known for his distinctive raspy voice and performances in Western films. He portrayed Cookie, the sidekick of Roy Rogers, in a series of ten films and appeared with John Wayne in Stagecoach (1939) and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962). Devine also played Danny McGuire in A Star Is Born (1937) and voiced Friar Tuck in Disney's Robin Hood (1973). His television work includes the role of Jingles in The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok from 1951 to 1958.
