Ameer is an Indian film director who directed the highly successful film Paruthiveeran. He is part of the Tamil New Wave movement that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His notable works include Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002), Raam, and the award-winning Paruthiveeran, which received two National Film Awards and six Southern Filmfare Awards. Ameer also directed Vada Chennai (2018) and Maaran (2022). He made his acting debut in Yogi (2009) and later appeared in Vada Chennai, earning the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2018 Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards.
