Alex O'Loughlin is an Australian actor who plays Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett in the CBS remake of Hawaii Five-0. He starred in the film Oyster Farmer (2004) and appeared in The Back-Up Plan (2010). O'Loughlin's television credits include leading roles in Moonlight (2008) and Three Rivers (2009). He trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, graduating in 2002 after a three-year program. O'Loughlin began his career in Australian television and film, working in short films and theatre during his teenage years. He has also appeared in series such as BlackJack: Sweet Science and White Collar Blue.
