Alex Norton is a Scottish actor who played DCI Matt Burke in the television series Taggart. He has appeared in significant films directed by Bill Forsyth, including Gregory's Girl (1981), Local Hero (1983), and Comfort and Joy (1984). Norton's film credits also include major productions such as Braveheart (1995), White Hunter Black Heart (1990), and Patriot Games (1992). Additionally, he portrayed eleven characters in the film Comrades (1986) and starred in the sitcom Two Doors Down. Norton was a founding member of the 7:84 company, performing in The Cheviot, the Stag, and the Black Black Oil during the 1970s.
