Alex McCrindle began his acting career in 1937 with minor roles in UK television. He gained prominence for his portrayal of Jock Anderson in the series Dick Barton – Special Agent from 1946 to 1951. McCrindle made his American film debut in The House in the Square (1951) and appeared in several films, including I Believe in You (1952), The Kidnappers (1953), Trouble in the Glen (1954), and Geordie (1955). He played General Dodonna in Star Wars (1977) and later returned to television, featuring as the eccentric veterinarian Ewan Ross in All Creatures Great and Small. McCrindle's extensive career spanned several decades until his passing in 1990.
