Alec Guinness is an English actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Colonel Nicholson in The Bridge on the River Kwai. He appeared in multiple Ealing Comedies, notably playing eight distinct roles in Kind Hearts and Coronets. His portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy solidified his status in cinematic history. Other significant roles include Prince Feisal in Lawrence of Arabia and George Smiley in the television adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Guinness also starred in Doctor Zhivago (1965).
