A.J. Cook is a Canadian actress who portrayed Supervisory Special Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau in the CBS series Criminal Minds. She has appeared in various films, including The Virgin Suicides, Out Cold, and Final Destination 2 (2003). Cook began her career in dance at the age of four, competing in jazz, tap, and ballet before transitioning to acting at sixteen. She married Nathan Andersen in 2001, and they have a son, Mekhai, who made cameo appearances in Criminal Minds. Cook has also dealt with vision impairment due to severe astigmatism, which was corrected through surgery. She is best friends with actress Meghan Ory.
