Abe Vigoda is a character actor who gained prominence in The Godfather (1972) as the scheming Tessio. He began his acting career on stage at the age of 17 and spent over two decades in small theater productions before transitioning to film and television. Vigoda's notable roles include Sgt. Phil Fish in the sitcom Barney Miller (1974) and its spin-off Fish (1977). His film credits also feature North (1994), The Misery Brothers (1995), and A Brooklyn State of Mind (1998). He appeared in The Cheap Detective (1978) and continued to perform into his 90s.
