About Manifest

Manifest is a 2020 Documentary film. Originally in Danish, with audio in English, produced in Denmark.

"Manifest," a 2020 documentary directed by Assa Rytter, delves into the complex realm of female sexuality through the lens of personal experiences and societal expectations. Set in Denmark, the film is anchored by Rytter herself as she navigates this multifaceted topic alongside her mother, Dagmar Rytter. The narrative unfolds as a quest for understanding, triggered by the need to address the often-taboo subject of female desire, exploring how it intersects with cultural norms and personal identity. The central conflict of "Manifest" lies in the tension between societal perceptions of female sexuality and the authentic expressions of individual desires. Rytter adopts a bold and introspective tone, inviting audiences to grapple with the dichotomy of liberation and restraint that often characterizes women's experiences. The documentary genre allows for a raw and unfiltered exploration of these themes, as Rytter artfully weaves together personal anecdotes and broader cultural critiques, prompting reflections on identity, empowerment, and the societal constructs that shape women's lives. Originating from Denmark, "Manifest" has sparked discussions around female sexuality and the importance of open dialogue in contemporary society. The film resonates particularly with viewers interested in feminist discourse and the complexities of personal agency. Its reception highlights a growing recognition of the need for honest conversations about female desire, marking it as a significant contribution to the ongoing discourse surrounding women's rights and sexual empowerment in cinema.
