William Shatner is a Canadian actor who portrayed James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, beginning with his debut in 1966. His extensive career spans over seven decades, during which he has appeared in numerous films and television series, including T. J. Hooker (1982–1986), Miss Congeniality (2000), and the legal dramas The Practice and Boston Legal, earning two Emmy Awards for his role as Denny Crane. Shatner has also ventured into music, releasing albums that feature dramatic recitations of popular songs, with his most successful being Seeking Major Tom (2011). In 2021, he made headlines by becoming the oldest person to fly in space aboard Blue Origin NS-18.
