William Devane is an American actor who portrayed Greg Sumner in the soap opera Knots Landing. He began his career with the New York Shakespeare Festival, performing in 15 plays, and gained recognition for his role as President John F. Kennedy in the docudrama The Missiles of October. Devane's film credits include notable works such as McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), Marathon Man (1976), and Space Cowboys (2000). He also appeared in the television series 24 as Secretary of Defense James Heller, a role he reprised in Live Another Day. He played a significant role in Hollow Man (2000).
