Viet Thanh Nguyen is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose debut novel, The Sympathizer, received the prestigious award in 2016. He serves as the Aerol Arnold Chair of English and is a Professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. In addition to his literary work, Nguyen is a regular op-ed columnist for The New York Times, where he discusses topics such as immigration and culture. His accolades include a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Nguyen became the first Asian American member of the Pulitzer Prize Board. He is involved in the documentary Turning Point: The Vietnam War (2025).
