Val Bettin was an American actor who voiced Dr. David Q. Dawson in the animated film The Great Mouse Detective (1986). He took on the role of the Sultan in both The Return of Jafar (1994) and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, as well as in the Aladdin television series, succeeding Douglas Seale. Bettin hosted The Storyteller, a children's program in the late 1950s. He had significant roles in Aladdin (1994) and its sequels. Bettin's distinctive use of an English accent marked his performances throughout his career.
