Pernilla August is a Swedish actress who won the Best Actress Award at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Ingmar Bergman's "The Best Intentions". She portrayed Shmi Skywalker in the "Star Wars" franchise, appearing in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999) and "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002). August has collaborated extensively with Bergman throughout her career.
