Paul Brinegar was an American character actor who made his first credited film appearance in Larceny (1948). He gained prominence through his roles in several western series, particularly as George Washington Wishbone in Rawhide from 1959 to 1966. Brinegar also portrayed Jelly Hoskins in the CBS series Lancer and appeared in the film Charro! (1969) alongside Elvis Presley. His extensive film career included over 100 appearances in westerns. He had a notable role as the barman in Clint Eastwood's High Plains Drifter (1973). Brinegar's final screen appearance was in the 1994 film Maverick, where he played a stagecoach driver.
