Nadine Labaki is a Lebanese director who made history as the first female Arab director to have a film nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film with Capernaum (2018). She began her career in the Arabic music video industry before transitioning to film, where her work often reflects the everyday experiences of Lebanese life and addresses political themes including war, poverty, and feminism. Labaki's directorial debut, Caramel, was released in 2007 and garnered significant attention. Her filmography also includes the acclaimed movie Where Do We Go Now? (2011). In addition to her directing, she has contributed as an actress in various projects.
