Michael Paul Chan is an American actor who played Detective Michael Tao on the TNT series The Closer. He has appeared in various television shows, including a recurring role as Judge Lionel Ping on Arrested Development and Mr. Chong in The Wonder Years. In film, Chan portrayed the convenience store owner in Falling Down (1993) and Dr. Lee in Batman & Robin (1997), directed by Joel Schumacher. He also voiced characters in animated series, such as Jimmy Ho on The PJ's and a C.I.A. agent in The Simpsons. Chan's work includes roles in U.S. Marshals (1998) and the independent film Americanese. He is a founding member of the Asian American Theater Company.
