Matias Varela is a Swedish-Spanish actor who portrayed Jorge Salcedo in the Netflix series Narcos. He began his career with a notable role as Miguel "Mischa" Zantos in the TV series Nya tider from 2000 to 2001. After a decade-long hiatus, he made a significant return to acting as Jorge Salinas Barrio in Snabba Cash, followed by appearances in its sequels, Snabba Cash II and Snabba Cash – Livet deluxe, for which he received Guldbaggen nominations. Varela also appeared in the Arne Dahl films as Jorge Chavez and played Ferdinand II of Naples in The Borgias. His international career includes roles in Point Break (2015) and Assassin's Creed. Varela's performance in the Snabba Cash trilogy marked a pivotal moment in his career.
