María Conchita Alonso is the first Latin American actress not born in the United States to star in a Broadway musical, having performed in Kiss of the Spider Woman in 1995. She is a Cuban-born Venezuelan-American actress, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, with a diverse career in film and television. Alonso received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in 1996 for her role in Caught. Her film credits include Kill 'em All (2017) and Jezabel (2022). In addition to her acting, she has achieved success in music, earning multiple gold and platinum records and receiving three Grammy Award nominations.
