Lea Thompson is an American actress who played Lorraine Baines-McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985–1990). She gained prominence with her performances in films such as Howard the Duck (1986) and Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). Thompson's early work includes roles in All the Right Moves (1983) and Red Dawn (1984). She also appeared in Jaws 3-D (1983) and J. Edgar (2011). In addition to her film career, she starred in the sitcom Caroline in the City during the 1990s. Thompson co-starred as Kathryn Kennish in the series Switched at Birth from 2011 to 2017.
