Larry Parks is an American actor who received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Al Jolson in The Jolson Story (1946). He began his career on Broadway with a minor role in Golden Boy (1937) and later transitioned to film after signing with Columbia Pictures in 1941. Parks appeared in various films, including The Boogie Man Will Get You (1942) and the sequel Jolson Sings Again (1949). His career faced significant challenges due to the Hollywood blacklisting, which curtailed his opportunities in film after Love Is Better Than Ever (1952). Despite these setbacks, he found creative outlets in summer stock and vaudeville, collaborating with his wife, Betty Garrett.
