Karl Yune is an American actor of Asian descent who starred as the lead in Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004). He began his career in theater, gaining acclaim for his portrayal of Gloucester in a contemporary adaptation of Richard III. Yune's talent caught the attention of director Edward Zwick, leading to his audition for The Last Samurai, which prompted his move to Los Angeles. He later played Koichi in Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), a film produced by Steven Spielberg. In 2011, he appeared as Tak Mashido in the sci-fi drama Real Steel, also produced by Spielberg. Yune has worked in various independent and Hollywood films throughout his career.
