June Brown is an English actress who portrayed Dot Cotton in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1985 to 2020. She won the Best Actress award at the Inside Soap Awards in 2005 and received a Lifetime Achievement award at the British Soap Awards. Brown was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2008 and was promoted to OBE in 2022. In addition to her television career, she appeared in the film Straw Dogs (1971). Brown was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress in 2009.
