Jimmy Chin is an American director who co-directed the Academy Award-winning documentary Free Solo (2018). A professional climber and mountaineer, he has led numerous expeditions across the globe, including notable climbs in the Himalayas and Mount Everest. Chin's photography has been featured in prestigious publications such as National Geographic and Vanity Fair. He also co-directed the award-winning documentary Meru, which received accolades including the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2021, his photography book There and Back became a New York Times Best Seller. Chin's work has earned him the National Geographic "Photographer's Photographer Award."
