Gary McDonald is an English actor of Jamaican descent who gained prominence with his role as Darren Roberts in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (1987-1988). He was a member of the Royal Court Theatre and performed in various plays, including Hard Time Pressure and Che Walker’s Been So Long. McDonald also took part in productions with the Talawa Theatre company, featuring in The Black Jacobins and A Raisin in the Sun. His film credits include The Shepherd: Border Patrol (2008). Additionally, he portrayed Captain John Black in the television series Dream Team (1999-2006). McDonald's extensive work in theatre and television showcases his diverse acting skills.
