Edmund Purdom is an English actor who starred in the historical epic The Egyptian (1954). He began his career on stage in Britain, performing works by Shakespeare, before transitioning to Broadway and eventually Hollywood. Purdom became known as "The Replacement Star" in the mid-1950s after taking over significant roles from Mario Lanza and Marlon Brando. He later focused on European genre cinema, collaborating with directors such as Juan Piquer Simón and Joe D'Amato during the 1970s to 1990s. His filmography includes The Comedy Man (1964).
