Ed Devereaux was an Australian actor who played Matt Hammond in the children's television series Skippy. He spent many years in the UK and worked on various projects both in front of and behind the camera. Devereaux wrote and directed The Veteran (1969), which received critical acclaim, and he also worked on the scripts of Double Trouble, Summer Storm, and The Mine. His film appearances include Mr. Gubbins in Ladies Who Do (1963) and roles in several Carry On films such as Carry On Sergeant and Carry On Nurse. He also had notable roles in The Onedin Line and Absolutely Fabulous. Devereaux appeared in Snakes and Ladders (1989).
